Allan Tsui is a veteran Hong Kong stage designer and curator with a prolific 20-year career encompassing over 200 productions. He currently serves as the Chairman of the Hong Kong Association of Theatre Technicians and Scenographers (HKATTS). A multiple-time representative for Hong Kong at the Prague Quadrennial, he has also co-curated numerous exhibitions, including the inaugural and second Technical Arts Festivals in 2022 and 2024.

 

Reflecting a deeply multidisciplinary academic foundation, Allan holds a Diploma in Design from the Hong Kong Polytechnic University, alongside a Diploma in Technical Arts (Film/TV) and a Bachelor of Fine Arts (Honours) in Theatre Set and Costume Design from the Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts. He furthered his diverse intellectual pursuits by earning a Master of Arts in Philosophy from The Chinese University of Hong Kong.

 

In 2023, Allan expanded his international practice in the UK, collaborating with the legendary Professor Pamela Howard OBE. During this residency, he assisted on the musical Brendan - Son of Dublin and co-designed the Welcome to Wales exhibition. Bridging industry practice with mentorship, Allan is also an active arts advisor and nurtures the next generation of design talent as a lecturer at the Hong Kong Design Institute (HKDI).
